There are four young filmmakers in Uniquecorn Pictures who crave to tell the tales of two cousins,..
Cousins are our best friends during our childhood; goofing off and playing together during Eid. But what happens when we grow up? Does the relationship last? We grow apart and perhaps become strangers.
SEPUPU explores this concept and tells and honest story between cousins. Ayub, an awkward 18 year old, has to put up with his elder cousin, Daniel, as Ayub himself struggles with his divorced family during Raya.
Uniquecorn Pictures are a group of 4 Final Year Students who are determined to share their story and make their film a reality.
Our team are diverse in nature as our director is from Indonesia and our producer has lived all over the world. But as we got together to come up with a story, one theme comes to mind; cousins. It is uniquely Malaysian and even relatable to South-East Asian culture. We were intrigued by how similar Indonesian and Malaysian customs were with our personal experiences with cousins during Eid. This awkward relationship can even be seen during family gatherings like Chinese New Year, Christmas and other festive seasons.
The total amount needed is RM31 000 and we've allocated numerous sources in order to achieve this goal. Through mystartr alone, we're aiming to gather RM15 000; finding a dedicated audience for our short film as well.
Our short film consists of many locations, mostly outdoors. We will be chasing the day light, whether it'll be HOT, WINDY or RAINING, we will face the CHALLENGES of shooting outdoors.
We all have our own perspective and opinions about our cousins. SEPUPU is inspired by our team's own experience and we believe this is a story that most Malaysians can relate with. By helping us make this short film happen, you can finally see a story that speaks about this theme...about 'US'.
